| Hello, I don't think I made any blog
post for a while (or any that matters). I guess I'll use this site as a
place to place my thought or whatever. Oh hey, that's what a blog is
for xD. So hrm.
College. I remember dreading college about a year ago, but now, I'm
actually loving it. It's amazing how fast time passes by and how much
life skills one can learn in college =D. I think I can actually make a
list of all the things I have done for the first time in college. Hrmm..:
First Time: - Doing Laundry - Shopping? - Doing hmwk =) - Studying (kind of) - Not playing dota for over a month - Not playing my saxophone =( - Sleeping whenever I want (no bed time!!!!) - Participating in small group ish bible studies - Looking for and finding God =D
Donald in College So
basically these past few week..oops, I mean months, I've been learning
how to become a man! I finally fold my own clothes, do my laundry, and
have cleaning days on Saturdays. (I think I should write a guide for my
little brother so he'll know what to do what he gets to college). I met
some great people so far and I've found that I have an overabundance of
free time here. Not having to stay after school 3 hours everyday cause
of marching band or tennis really gave me a lot of free time. Not only
that, since I don't game anymore 0=), I have even more free time than
ever. With this new amount of time, I currently am investing it into
working out (w/ Sean & Kevin), God, pool, learning random stuff
(adobe after effects, C++, hacking), and studying (couple hours before
the test). I probably should be reading what the teacher assigns us,
but I'll get there one day ( =] still getting A's ). So I guess a
typical day at UTSA for me would be something like this: 1) Wake Up around 11:30, lunch 2) Classes 3) Work out or Roost (a new game room with 6 plasma tvs, two wii's, two ps3's, two 360's, four competition pool tables [about $10k each], table tennis, Foosball table) 4) Class 5) Cru or Epic or Roost or dinner 6) Library "study" room 0=)
UTSA vs UT
So
after visiting UT a little over a week ago, I can already tell it will
be way different next year (assuming I make it over there alright). So
here's what I can compare for now.. 1. Food For Thought Hrm,
variety-wise, Austin wins. At UTSA, all we have is a couple fast food
joints and the Roadrunner Cafe. Although the RR Cafe is way better than
j2 & kinsolving, it
gets repetitive and old after awhile. While Austin has food every
corner of the street, UTSA is...lacking of streets? no..I guess we just
don't have any where to walk to unless we walk underneath the freeway
bridge to a Whataburger in
the middle of nowhere or the mall. Also, I have not yet been or heard
of a tapioca place in SA yet =( so UT wins in this category 2. Housing
Okay,
UTSA wins for sure on this one. Lets take Sean and Kevin's dorm for
example. They live in a new dorm with 1 living room, 1 kitchen (w/ full
size fridge and microwave), 1 private bath, 2 bedrooms (with card
locks). The cost of their dorm is less than what people have to pay at
jester. Now lets take Henry's dorm for example. Henry sleeps
on a bunk bed in a room the size of Sean's dorm living room (or 1/2 of
my room) and has a public bath. Not the same =p (Going to be harder to
adjust...utsa just has too much space) 3. Classes Hrm.. don't know how to rate this category. UT Austin's campus is pretty big. It takes about 10 mins
walk from my dorm to the UTSA classes, but the campus is small enough
for me to take about 5 min to power walk across campus. To me, UT
Austin campus seems big and I'll probably be lost the first month or so
xD. Difficulty of the classes here? Hrm lets see... I skip math class, but ace exam (or do hmwk
in math class)... haven't read a chapter of politics (have an A w/
extra credit), studied in class sociology notes a day before test and I
get an A in that class... same as sociology for geology. So people in
Austin...hrm.. heard EE majors don't have a life there. Hope that sums it up. Gonna be a lot to get use to next year.
4. INTERNET
LoL, Austin has to pay for their internet. Over here we have free internet and a T1 connection at school. (No bandwidth limit + free internet). Only downside is that they blocked all the ports for gaming. =( no dota, wc3, cs, gb, or w/e. But flash games work =) 5. Gym I haven't been to the UT Austin gyms yet, but I'll have to say UTSA wins =p. So over here, they have a recreational center that was built 2 years ago (so it's still brand new) with racquetball courts, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, table tennis, indoor upstairs track, demo kitchen, and work out equipment. Outside, we have a pool, beach vollyball, and a random river like pool thing where people can go kayak or is that paddle boating. So what's the gym like in Austin? I
guess these are all the random things I can think of now. I should
probably go sleep now for it's way past my bedtime..oh wait..no
bedtime! But still, sleep is good for my red eyes (yes, it's that time
of the season again). G'nite...(or morning) Bye!
